The Evolution of the American Home
What will tomorrow's home look like?
From the most modest homes to the most grand, the one certainty is that technology will play a key role in ensuring the
quality,
durability,
efficiency,
safety and
affordability of American homes.
The NextGen Demonstration Home takes a principled approach to
exploring these values as they have evolved in the homebuilding industry. It invites visitors to consider how environmental concerns and advanced technologies are changing homebuyers' expectations. These changing expectations pose challenges for the way we plan, build, and sell houses.
NextGen offers answers to those challenges. This 2,300 square foot home demonstrates what can be achieved when a whole-house approach to building is coupled with high standards for building quality and comfort, and a commitment to affordability. In addition to the wide range of advanced technologies it demonstrates, the home will be for many a first introduction to modular building, or "stick building in a factory." Its lessons are applicable to any builder interested in improving quality through careful planning and design.
The NextGen Home was on display in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the 2004
International Consumer Electronics Show and the 2004
International Builders' Show in January.
