Colonia Demonstration Home Breaks New Ground on Affordable Housing
PATH opened a Brownsville, Texas demonstration home to the public on June 25, setting a new standard for affordable homebuilding. The demonstration home is located in a colonia of Brownsville, a neighborhood of lower-income and Mexican immigrant families where many substandard shelters suffer under the wind and heat of south Texas. PATH Partners to Showcase Advanced Technologies in NextGen Demo Home
PATH is pleased to announce its role as platinum sponsor of the 2004 NextGen Demonstration Home--a 2,400 square-foot house to be built on the grounds of the Las Vegas Convention Center--at the International Builders' Show in January 2004. PATH Debuts Monthly Column in Professional Builder Magazine
PATH's new monthly column in Professional Builder premiered in the June issue, entitled "The Anatomy of Innovation" on page 47 of the magazine. Every month, the column will highlight advanced homebuilding techniques, showcase construction projects that utilize innovative products and designs, and profile industry leaders and researchers who are developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies, systems, and industry practices. Assuring Quality: Report from the Building & Insurance Industry Roundtable
At the International Builders' Show in January, PATH and the NAHB Research Center hosted a roundtable meeting between homebuilders and stakeholders in the insurance field to discuss ways to improve construction insurance rates and availability. In a summary report, the roundtable concluded that establishing a national quality assurance program for the residential construction industry would help overcome homebuilders' difficulty in finding affordable liability coverage in certain areas due to the risk assessments of insurers.
