Solar Decathlon The University of Maryland's Leaf House won second place in this year's competition.

October 12-20, National Mall, Washington, DC

The Solar Decathlon is a competition among 20 teams of college and university students who compete to design, build, and operate the most attractive, effective, and energy-efficient solar-powered house on the National Mall. This year's top winner was Technische Universität Darmstadt from Germany, followed by the University of Maryland and Santa Clara University. PATH staff provided communications assistance to the University of Maryland team; participated in the Communications Jury; and spoke on Renovating Green and a 5-Year Green Plan and Presolarizing: What to Do Before You Innovate .
