February 23, 2007 HUD Secretary Visits PATH and NextGen
"I was incredibly impressed by the construction innovations developed by our partners in HUD's PATH program. The product manufacturers and trade associations I visited with at the NAHB conference are clearly committed to providing more American families with greener, more efficient housing," Secretary Jackson said. The PATH booth featured a the PATH 2007 Top 10 Technologies, which takes a glimpse into the future of homebuilding, and finds faster construction, safer homes, and efficiencies of every stripe. In 2007, new technologies reflect ancient ideas about harnessing the elements, while protecting us from nature's brutal forms.
The technologies featured were chosen to address not only a one-time disaster, but also longer-term issues such as moisture, mold and durability. Featuring this exhibit at the Builders show gives HUD and PATH the opportunity to show over 100,000 leading edge builders how new technologies can be successfully integrated into a well-built, affordable home. ORLANDO, FL - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson attended the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) annual International Builders Show and Convention at the Orange County Convention Center on February 8 to speak to the NAHB Board of Directors and to review the latest advancements in home construction, including visiting the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) booth on the trade show floor, meeting with PATH Partners and touring the PATH-sponsored NextGen "First to the Future" Demonstration Home.
The 2,700-square-foot NextGen home featured the latest innovations in home construction; it showcases approximately 15 technological advancements identified by PATH that create energy efficient, disaster resistant, durable, and comfortable homes.
