PATH - A Public Private Partnership for Advancing Housing Technology
Finding the Best Building Professionals
You just want the best builder in your area. Is that too much to ask?
We don't think so. Here are a few tips on increasing your odds of finding them.
- Interview as many builders in your area as you can. Don't just listen to the sales talk. Ask them
the ten questions. Use the
PATH Guide to Builder Shopping on the finalists.
- Talk with others in your area who have had homes built. Who built their homes? How satisfied are they?
- Visit the PATH Partners section of our site to look up our builder partners in your area. These are builders who report using advanced building technologies and practices to build homes of higher quality. Many of them have been active in PATH fieldwork for years.
- Do your homework. Find out what type of home you want, and what you want in it. Make sure that the builder you choose has plenty of experience with specific technologies. For example, if you want a
SIPS home, make sure you use a builder who has built with SIPS before. Otherwise, you will literally be paying for him/her to learn how to use them.
