PATH Partners FEMA and Fannie Mae Offer Retrofit Loans

The Federal Emergency Management Agency and Fannie Mae announced a joint program to help Florida homeowners retrofit their homes, offering homeowners installment loans of up to $10,000 at competitive interest rates for certain disaster prevention improvements.
HUD/PATH Book Spotlights 63 Award-Winning, Affordable Housing Projects Made Possible by Innovative Technologies

HUD released a study in October describing 63 award-winning housing projects that employ new ideas in housing development, design, and construction to lower home costs and increase opportunities for homeownership in the United States. FEMA and Texas Tech Team Up for "Safe Room" Home Tornado Protection

The Federal Emergency Management Agency teamed with the Wind Engineering Research Center of Texas Tech University to produce the publication, "Taking Shelter from the Storm: Building a Safe Room Inside Your House." Released in October 1998, the booklet focuses on how to build in-residence tornado shelters, or safe rooms, that can provide protection against winds of up to 250 miles per hour and projectiles traveling at 100 miles an hour.
