PATH Brings Proven New Technologies and Practices to 21st Century

PATH's Glen Salas presented a wide range of technologies and practices that preserve the environment and facilitate the building process at the 21st Century Building Conference and Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 15. Salas's seminar, "Building an Innovative, Sustainable Home," covered everything from precast concrete foundations and ENERGY STAR qualified products to xeriscaping and the PATH Tech Sets.  Many technologies were new to the audience of builders and architects. Attendees were especially interested in permitting requirements and installation methods.

Solar Decathlon

The Solar Decathlon (Washington, DC, October 7-16) is a competition for teams of college and university students, who compete to design, build, and operate an energy-efficient solar-powered house. The 18 team houses, as well as sponsor exhibits and educational workshops, are open to the public October 7-16 on the National Mall. Builders are encouraged to preview the homes on Industry Day, October 7. Hear PATH experts speak at five sessions:

• Monday, October 10, 3:30: Building Sustainably & Finding a Sustainable Builder
• Tuesday, October 11, 3:30: Renovating Green and the Five-Year Green Plan
• Wednesday, October 12, 3:30: Six Simple Ways to Improve Your Next Home (including home run plumbing, graywater reuse piping, proper flashing & air sealing, high efficiency HVAC in conditioned space, roof overhangs, and insulation)
• Thursday, October 13, 3:30: Innovation 101 (or what to know about when talking to a builder or remodeler about building sustainably)
• Friday, October 14, 3:30: Where is Homebuilding Heading?

Remodeling Show

The Remodeling Show (Baltimore, October 12-15) brings remodelers, replacement contractors, home improvement professionals, general contractors, customer builders, residential architects and designers together to meet with top manufacturers; preview innovative products, tools and services; and network with peers. Visit PATH booth #1302 to see our innovative technology display. Learn about "Designing for Durability" at PATH's session on October 15, from 8:00 -- 10:00 AM in Room SA65.

EEBA's 2005 Excellence in Building Conference and Expo

The Energy & Environmental Building Association's 2005 Excellence in Building Conference and Expo (Colorado Springs, October 26-28) provides over 60 educational sessions and an expo. On October 28 at 1:30 PM, hear PATH's Dana Bres and Glen Salas speak about the PATH Tech Sets. 

2005 Building Systems Councils SHOWCASE

The Building Systems Council SHOWCASE (Louisville, Kentucky, November 6-9) is an NAHB conference and trade show for manufacturers, builders, dealers, and suppliers in the concrete, log, modular, and panelized homebuilding industries. On November 7 at 10 AM, hear PATH's Mike Crosbie speak at the breakout session, "What's Stopping Builder's from Using Panel Systems?" Dr. Crosbie will also discuss findings from PATH's recent publication, " Integrating Panels into the Production Homebuilding Process."
