June 20, 2005 Demonstration House to Show Off Sustainable Resources PATH Technologies displayed on Mall in Washington, D.C. The Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) encourages builders and consumers to visit the Sustainable Resource House on display during the Smithsonian Folklife Festival from June 23 to 27 and from June 30 to July 4 on the Mall in Washington, D.C. Constructed entirely out of wood, the house demonstrates the link between sustainable forestry, modern efficient wood products, and green building. The home also uses several innovations from the PATH technology inventory, including structural insulated panels, I-joists, pressure-treated decking, and glued laminated timber. The Sustainable Resource House is sponsored by the APA-the Engineered Wood Association, the Forest Products Laboratory, the Structural Insulated Panel Association, the Southern Pine Council, and builder Al Cobb of Insulspan PanelWright LLC. After the Folklife Festival, a Habitat for Humanity family in North Carolina will receive the home. For more information, visit the Sustainable Resource House Web site. Content updated on 6/21/2005 |
