April 18, 2005 Sustainable Apartments Open in San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, HUD regional director speak at event SAN FRANCISCO - The Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH), in collaboration with affordable housing developer Citizens Housing Corporation (CHC), is proud to announce the grand opening of the Folsom/Dore Apartments at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 20. The grand opening event will feature San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Regional Director Richard Rainey.
The Folsom/Dore Apartments project is a four- and five-story complex located in the city's South of Market Neighborhood, an area comprised of residential, commercial, and light industrial uses. The site was selected due to its proximity to public transportation, which will reduce parking needs by 70 percent. Additionally, City Carshare, a fuel-efficient vehicles rental service for residents and community members, will locate four vehicles at the complex. Along with technical assistance from PATH, CHC is receiving assistance from the City of San Francisco, the Arc San Francisco and Episcopal Community Services to develop affordable housing for low- and very low-income residents. The Folsom/Dore Apartment project is funded through the State of California Multifamily Housing Program, tax credits, tax-exempt bonds credit-enhanced by Citibank, the Federal Home Loan Bank Affordable Housing Program grant, and local gap financing provided by the Mayor's Office of Housing in San Francisco.
