PATH Unveils the "Top 10 Technologies" at Breakfast of Innovators

NextGen Home Draws Crowd for Advanced Building Technologies

LAS VEGAS - The Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) released the "Top 10 Technologies" to housing industry professionals during the Breakfast of Innovators at the 2004 NextGen Demonstration Home yesterday. On the edge of industry acceptance, the "top 10" are proven, practical, easy-to-use, and quickly gaining prestige as builders experience the benefits of using these advanced technologies.

NextGen draws a crowd at the Breakfast of Innovators."The top ten technologies hold the most promise for improving the quality and affordability of our homes," said General Deputy Assistant Secretary Darlene F. Williams of HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research. "These technologies are ready now and they can perform in the houses that we build tomorrow."

Darlene Williams and David Garman, DOE Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, tour the NextGen Home.NextGen 04 proved to be one of the highlights of IBS as industry professionals packed in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center to tour the home and see the latest in cutting-edge technologies. It was also an opportunity for builders to join PATH in exploring how these technologies have driven the evolution of the American home.

"Our interest is not only in showcasing advanced technologies," said Williams. "PATH is here to provide the builder with a map of how to get there."

Home Run Plumbing Systems
Engineered Panelized Systems
HVAC Optimization
Tankless Water Heaters
Shared (Community) Waste Water treatment
Air Admittance Vents
Low Impact Development
Integrated Steel/Wood Combination Framing
Pre-cast Concrete Panels (Walls & Foundation)

Technologies profiled by PATH are selected for their strengths in one or more of the following areas: quality and durability; energy efficiency; environmental performance; safety and disaster mitigation; and affordability.
