Home building professionals everywhere are planning to visit IBS for the latest innovations and trends in housing. The show is expected to attract more than 90,000 attendees from 100 countries including builders, developers, remodelers, suppliers, and the media.

NextGen Demonstration Home Tours. NextGen will be open to both housing industry professionals and the general public throughout the International Builders' Show from Jan. 19-22. At the conclusion of the show, NextGen will be donated to Opportunity Village, Nevada's leading not-for-profit organization serving people with mental disabilities. The donation ceremony will be held on Jan. 22, at noon. Opportunity Village will sell the home and use the proceeds to fund Opportunity Village's numerous programs.
NextGen Press Event. Offering a few remarks about PATH's role in the selecting many of the technologies in the 2004 NextGen Demonstration Home will be Dana Bres, acting director of HUD's Affordable Housing Research and Technology Division. The press event will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the home.
Breakfast of Innovators. PATH will host the "Breakfast of Innovators" for industry professionals at the NextGen Home on Jan. 21,at 8:30 a.m., to announce the "Top 10 Technologies". The breakfast, open to media professionals as well as media representatives, also will offer visitors a chance to learn about some two dozen PATH-profiled technologies integrated in the home, and to consider NextGen's "Evolution of the American Home" theme in light of changing ideas about affordability, energy efficiency and housing quality. Show-and-Tell. PATH will also offer an array of resources and information tools at exhibit booth #N2353, including a CD-ROM that profiles PATH's "Top Ten" and offers information on better building practices. Samples of innovative technologies will also be on display.
Home Builders' Insurance Crisis and Quality Certification - A review of the PATH Quality Roundtable, formed in 2003, among builders, researchers, and insurers to explore today's home builder insurance issues. The group reviews strategies for home builders, including quality certification on Jan. 20, at 11:00 a.m., in room 226-228 South, Level 2.
Selling Innovation to Builders - Designed for product manufacturers and others who market to builders, this session shares insights from PATH's study on builders' attitudes toward innovation and recommendations for doing "the sell" on Jan. 20, at 1:30 p.m., in room 255 North, Level 2.
Practical Innovation - Results From PATH Field Evaluations. Summaries of several Field Evaluations of innovative and available technologies, which satisfy PATH's goals of affordability, durability, energy and resource efficiency, will be presented in a format for application to housing by builders, trade contractors, designers, and developers. New construction and remodeling projects are also covered during this session on Jan. 21, at 9:00 a.m., in room 246-250 North, Level 2.
