HUD Set to Announce the "TOP 10 TECHNOLOGIES" at PATH's "Breakfast of Innovators"
General Deputy Assistant Secretary Darlene F. Williams of HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research-which administers PATH-will announce the "Top 10 Technologies" at the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH's) "Breakfast of Innovators" on Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. To be held at the NextGen Demonstration Home in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the 2004 International Builders Show, the PATH breakfast event will introduce visitors to these proven technologies on the edge of industry acceptance that promise to raise the standard for residential building practices.
"These innovations are both practical and easy-to-use building technologies," said Williams. "Many builders are experiencing the benefits of integrating them into their projects for the first time."
NextGen Press Event:
Offering a few remarks about PATH's role in selecting many of the technologies in the 2004 NextGen Demonstration Home will be Dana Bres, acting director of HUD's Affordable Housing Research and Technology Division. The press event will be held on Monday, Jan. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the home.
The PATH Breakfast of Innovators:
The PATH "Breakfast of Innovators," open to housing industry professionals as well as media representatives, also will offer visitors a chance to learn about some two dozen PATH-profiled technologies integrated in the home, and to consider NextGen's "Evolution of the American Home" theme in light of changing ideas about affordability, energy efficiency and housing quality.
[To reserve a spot at the PATH Breakfast of Innovators, please RSVP to info@pathnet.org. For a complete list of PATH-profiled technologies at NextGen, visit www.pathnet.org.]
NextGen Demonstration Home Tours:
NextGen will be open to both housing industry professionals and the general public throughout the International Builders' Show from Jan. 19-22. At the conclusion of the show, NextGen will be donated to Opportunity Village, Nevada's leading not-for-profit organization serving people with mental disabilities. The donation ceremony will be held on Jan. 22 at noon. Opportunity Village will sell the home and use the proceeds to fund Opportunity Village's numerous programs.
Technologies profiled by PATH are selected for their strengths in one or more of the following areas: quality and durability; energy efficiency; environmental performance; safety and disaster mitigation; and affordability.
