PATH to Unveil 2007 Top Ten Technologies at “Breakfast of Innovators”
PATH will unveil its Top 10 Technologies for 2007 at the NextGen "First to the Future" Demonstration Home in Orlando. Darlene Williams, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is scheduled to reveal the list, the first update to the original PATH Top Ten released in 2004.

PATH and McGraw Hill Construction released today four reports, one of which -- "Residential Market Research for Innovation" -- details the entire scope of work under a partnership conducted by PATH and McGraw-Hill Construction to investigate the most critical research data gaps impeding better understanding of innovation adoption. The findings of the project are clear: additional market research can better equip stakeholders to meet the challenge of technology adoption in housing.

HUD has commissioned a new publication directed to builders and remodelers working in flood-prone areas. The "Flood Rehab Guide" will contain important information on rehabbing single-family houses that have been subjected to flooding.

Innovative green construction is coming to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with the help of the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH). Today, work got underway on one of four green homes to be built by students at the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC)'s Mount Joy campus.

Researchers Seal the Deal on Caulking Durability
Building designers and owners will soon be able to choose caulking products with known performance attributes, thus improving durability, reducing water leakage, and lowering costs of maintenance, thanks to a research project being conducted at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to evaluate caulking durability.

Continuing the PATH to Hurricane Recovery
In the eye of the hurricane season, the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) returned to the Gulf Coast last weekend to arm residents with hurricane preparedness and reconstruction tips. Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour's Recovery Expo on August 11, 12, and 13 drew more than 15,000 displaced residents to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi.

PATH Study to Determine Best Ways to Connect Concrete Wall Systems and SIP Roofs
As energy prices increase, more homebuyers are demanding the most energy-efficient homes possible. Combining concrete wall systems with wood-based structural insulated panels (SIP) on the roof creates a high-performance, energy efficient home, but builders lack specifications for connecting these two products. PATH hopes a new study will resolve this.

Draft Protocol for Energy-Efficient Remodeling Developed
The protocols will assess the energy efficiency of an existing home and identify energy upgrades. They will provide guidance to remodeling and trade contractors and homeowners, and help ensure that dollars invested in energy upgrades result in maximum savings.

SIPA and PATH Release Prescriptive Method for Building with Structural Insulated Panels
Collaborating with SIPA and SIP manufacturers across the country, PATH was able to develop a performance standard for SIPs. SIPs achieving that standard were then tested and evaluated to create a comprehensive manual for SIP walls systems in residential construction.
