NAHB to Develop Detailed Resource for PATH Innovative Technologies
Taking the technology inventory of the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) one step further, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center will develop an electronic database of computer aided design (CAD) details for up to 50 innovative technologies. The package will include annotated design and construction details of PATH technologies that builders, architects and designers can more readily incorporate into house designs and blueprints.
PATH lists more than 150 new technologies; many that are not widely used or accepted by homebuilders. Creating a resource of detailed CAD symbols and drawings for technologies should streamline their acceptance and use in the residential construction and housing industry, and improve the ability of architects and designers to specify some of the newer technologies in their plans and call them out.
The NAHB Research Center will work with major architectural and CAD software manufacturers to make the final product readily available from multiple resources. The final product, which will include a user's guide, should be available in electronic format late 2005.
