PATH Blazing PATH CONCEPT HOME TO ILLUSTRATE WHOLE-HOUSE DESIGN
The debut of the exhibit is tentatively planned for Washington, DC in June. Through the Concept Home, PATH hopes to inspire builders and manufacturers to improve housing constructability, improve systems integration, and create better, more flexible living environments. PATH HITS THE PRESSES Increasingly, housing industry publications are turning to PATH as a resource. In addition to Professional Builder, PATH will be contributing stories on advanced building technologies and practices to Professional Remodeler, Automated Builder and Her Home magazines. Bright Ideas, a newsletter of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (NRC), also features PATH news, as well as the February/March issue of Southern California Builder. "GREEN BUILDING GOES MAINSTREAM"- LOOK FOR THE PATH COLUMN IN THE MARCH ISSUE OF PROFESSIONAL BUILDER Let's face it: green building is not a brand new idea. But several indicators point to 2004 as a vanguard year for the green building movement. For a list of the green building practices and technologies that we expect will make great strides into mainstream home building this year, see the March issue of Professional Builder, available soon at www.housingzone.com. Also, look for "What You Should Know about Modular Homes," coming up in PB in April. Each month, the PATH column in Professional Builder highlights advanced homebuilding techniques, showcases construction projects that utilize innovative products and designs, and profiles industry leaders and researchers who are developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies, systems, and industry practices. "INSULATING BASEMENT WALLS"- LOOK FOR THE PATH COLUMN IN THE MARCH PROFESSIONAL REMODELER Done right, insulating a basement's perimeter walls is an inexpensive way to domesticate the space, separating the perpetually cool outside walls from the mild interior and creating a much more comfortable living area. This debut PATH column in the March issue of Professional Remodeler examines cost effective insulation techniques. Look for it soon at www.housingzone.com. Also, look for the April 2004 column, "The Benefits of Materials Exchange," coming to www.housingzone.com. HER HOME is quarterly magazine published by Design Basics Inc. Geared toward the female homebuyer, the magazine offers education and ideas for women as they go through the homebuilding process. Features include perspectives on design and construction, products for the home, and input from leading women home builders and industry experts. A PATH feature, "Building Technology 101 for the Homebuyer," appears in the spring issue. Automated Builder, a monthly magazine on marketing, manufacturing methods and technology in the changing world of the automated building industry, now features a regular PATH column. See the March issue for an update on ENERGY STAR® for manufactured housing, and the April issue for PATH steel framing news. BRIGHT IDEAS, published by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation--a national network of more than 220 community-based organizations, is a quarterly periodical for and about the NeighborWorks® network. It gives employees, volunteers and supporters of these organizations a chance to share their accomplishments and learn about new ways to strengthen communities. A PATH article in the April issue will introduce affordable housing providers to the many benefits of advanced building technologies. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BUILDER, a bi-monthly magazine published by the Building Industry Association of Southern California, gives readers information on important home building issues and building projects in the Southern California area. The PATH article in the February/March issue can also be found on the PATH Web site. See “Building Material Garage Sales”. Content updated on 8/2/2004 |
