circle Field Evaluation: Habitat for Humanity
The Schenectady Habitat for Humanity Home is a two-story, 1344 sq. ft. home that has an insulating concrete form (ICF) basement wall. Construction of the home began in May 2001. The design of the house incorporates concepts of energy and resource efficiency, and the project is partially supported by NYSERDA and the Schenectady Builders Association Green Building Program. PATH technologies under evaluation at the site will include a radiant floor heating system. NAHB Research Center staff are assisting in the design of this system, and preparing an evaluation plan to compare it to a traditional forced-air heating system that will also be installed in the house.
