Field Evaluation: Chapman Companies: Rancho San Marcos The builder, Chapman Companies, has completed a home in the Rancho San Marcos Community on the outskirts of Santa Fe. The focus of the home was the installation of water saving technologies as well as energy efficient technologies. A greywater system was installed which recycles the water from the bathroom sinks and showers. The water collected in this system is pumped underground to a planting bed on the property. Coupled with the greywater system is the collection and re-use of rainwater. Rainwater from the roof is collected in an underground storage tank and is pumped to additional plantings on the property, when needed. The house also includes the use of radiant heat floors and air admittance vents in lieu of typical stack vents for the plumbing system. Click here for more information
