||National Pilot: Summerset at Frick Park|
Summerset at Frick Park will take an abandoned slag heap from Pittsburgh’s past and transform it into a new community of 713 homes utilizing the latest advances in building materials and technology with a commitment to quality, energy efficiency, low monthly operating costs and strong value. Summerset is a Brownsfield redevelopment which will utilize land recycling, Smart Growth, and urban infill to create a new urban community of single family homes, town homes, and rental apartments in traditional style, but with the latest in technology. In redeveloping the site, almost 140 acres will be dedicated to expansion of Frick Park and the creation of new neighborhood parks. There will be restoration of the stream, watershed and hillsides, correction of a sewer overflow problem by reconstruction and the development of a river front trail system, providing access to the river front. Located adjacent to the very successful Washington’s Landing development, Summerset at Frick Park will be a model for redevelopment utilizing affordable sustainable development and energy efficient technology.
