Field Evaluation: Buddy Hughes Construction
Hughes Construction has provided the opportunity for a side by side evaluation of innovative building systems. The project consists of four buildings, measuring 64' x 32', that will provide affordable rental housing when completed. Each building will be constructed of different structural materials that highlight PATH technologies. The materials that will be integrated are insulating concrete forms (ICF), autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC), prefabricated composite panels, and light gauge steel partitions and floor joists. A platform-framed wood building will serve as the baseline for this evaluation.
Evaluation will include monitoring labor and capturing the first costs of each of the assemblies. After completion, energy usage monitoring and sound transmission tests of the structures will be performed.
