triangle Field Evaluation and Demonstration Site: The Vistas at Kensington Park
The Vista at Kensington Park is an urban infill project on the eastern outskirts of Dallas, which is subsidized through the local housing authority for low-income families. For years the builder, Carl Franklin Homes, has been using Geothermal Heat Pumps to provide energy efficient heating and cooling. The builder used Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) for walls and roofs, which provide energy efficient and airtight homes. Carl Franklin Homes has also incorporated three additional PATH Technologies: Pre-Finished Drywall Corners, Tankless Water Heaters, and Pigmented Concrete Floor Finishes. These technologies were chosen to add durability and energy efficiency to the homes, as well as save money for the builder. An additional house was constructed in Plano, TX to evaluate tankless water heaters, and to compare energy use to a conventional water heater in an occupied home.
