SUBJECT: RE: Cost of Universal Design
FROM: DEAN YOUNGKEIT young@brigham.net

Universal design objectives are to
avoid designers and architects charges
because the work is already done. This
assumes that optimizing is also done.
Your local builder has something close
to this as far as he is concerned, But
someone else will think differently.
I envision a true optimization to
include the most square footage per
building dollar and energy dollar in
the future. Both of these can be
satisfied with many sided polygons also
designed around 4X8 or 4X12 foot
factory made building panels. These
near round structures should be used
for single family designs, duplexes and
so on up to 6 plexes divided in to
modified pie shape dwelling units. The
least outside exposure per square foot
of living space will give a lasting
energy bill reduction per family.
