I'm a research engineer in the
renewable energy/ energy efficiency
field. I recently visited the Civano
development in Tucson, AZ, and was
concerned by the use of Integra Block
on some of the homes. Apparently the
claim (it's not clear who made this
claim) is that the walls have an R-
value of R-19. A sample of the concrete
block used with the urethane foam
infill was on display; my engineering
intuition is that the wall can not
possibly be close to R-19. I would
guess more around R-6. Where did this
number come from? Does anyone know?
Has there been any standard testing
done on this wall type?
