All modular homes are energy wasters.
The exterior walls are the wasteful
components. They all have about 20%
more wall per square foot of floor
space than required by propper design.
On top of that those walls have 70%
more studs than needed for structural
strength. The extra wood members are
nailer boards thrown in to compensate
for poor design. They also have
indirect load paths for non- uniform
roof support. Their designs are not
owner friendly for eventual remodeling
nor additions.
The public knows that their resale
values are low. Their marketing
techniques are not honored by most
mortgage companies, especially when
they are set up in mobile home parks.
The equity building ability ability is
the lowest. They are most easily
damaged by high winds like tornados.
