The pultruded fiberglass manufacturer has a choice of
resins to use. Resin is the only component you need to
be concerned about. The best resin for ultraviolet
degradation resistance is vinyl ester. Polyester and
epoxy suffer fron U.V. surface powdering away to expose
the bare glass fiber. Thus, if not the best resin, you
may need to paint the frames every eight or ten years,
whenever bare fibers are exposed on the
sunlight etched surfaces.
