I'm trying to find examples of affordable housing
developments that have incorporated "green building"
techniques (esp. energy efficiency, water efficiency
and IAQ measures). I'm looking for truly affordable
housing developments (as opposed to green houses that
are price-comparable to traditional houses) - i.e.
developed by a non-profit developer and intended for
sale or rental to low to moderate income people,
developed by HUD or Housing Authorities for replacing
dilapidated public housing (e.g. under HOPE IV grants)
etc.
Specifically, I'm interested in information on:
- what green measures were incorporated
- what price premium (if any) these presented
- how these were financed, as most affordable housing
developments operate on very tight margins and have
limited financing flexibility for energy-efficiency or
other environmental upgrades.
Thanks in advance.
