Exterior basement walls

I am trying to build a home in the mountains. Getting
concrete to it is very, very expensive. Are exterior
steel walls which will have earth backfill against
them workable? Where can I find information about how
you would do this. ie. (Steel studs then pressure
treated plywood then plastic sheeting, then?)
