SUBJECT: RE: RE: Framing:Optimum Value Engineering Manual?

"OVE" framing refers to framing practices originally
developed by NAHB under contract with HUD and
published in early 70's. The OVE manual referenced
covers many different ideas for reducing framing
throughout the structure.

The EEBA energy efficient building manuals, and other
similar guides like the Super Good Cents Builders
Field Guide, only include framing practices that
remove framing and replace it with insulation. SGC
calls it "Advanced Framing" to differentiate from OVE.
For example, AF includes:

2x6 at 24" OC exterior walls
Open corners
Open T-wall intersections
Insulated headers or box headers.
