Insert new message here...We are in a
community near Ottawa which has similar
weather to Winnipeg. Our homes are R2000
bungalows and are fitted with HRV's.
When I arrived three years ago my
neighbours were all running thier HRV's
continuously in all seasons and were
suffering from excessive dryness in the
winter(too much cold dry air intake)and
too much humidity in Summer (too much
warm wet air intake). I solved the
problem here by connecting the HRV's to
the furnace blower control via a relay
and using a low voltage circuit within
the HRV to only turn on the HRV in
winter when the furnavce fan is running
for heat. ie. 2-3 hours per day in the
colfdest weather. In sumer the HRV's are
turned off completely and isolated.
Results are that we have proper humidity
in winter and can control it if needed
by using the HRV effectively. We have
GREATLY reduced heating costs because we
are not exhausting heated air outside
all winter 24 hrs per day. ETC. If you
would like for info please E-mail me.
All the best .... Ron Tughan. Kanata On.
