Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this but here goes...I am builiding a 3400 sq ft home in Connecticut. I am working with a GC. The plans originally called for a post and laminated girder in the middle of the basement. When I went to the site I noticed he substituded a 2X6 wall instead. I do not know why. Before I call him on it. Does anyone know the difference in cost, quaility and durability?
