I am trying to get a concept going that incorporates Mr. Brown's SIP homes, fiber-optic lighting, geo-thermal heating/cooling with radiant floors, and photovoltaic metal roofs. SIP roofs can be tied to the structure much better than most trusses so they'd probably withstand mother nature's annual attacks better. Combine this with fire resistance and you'll be able to talk with your insurance company about a lower rate.
If you speak with a PV (photovoltaic) roof company in the design phase you'll be able to not only write off most of the cost of the SIP/PV roof in tax incentives, but most likely zeroize your electric bill completely. Maybe even turn the meter backwards. You'd be able to laugh at the upcoming Y2K panic.
