The families that live within those outer walls have
needs that change from time to time. Children come in
to a family and older children move out or bring a
spouse in. Walls can invite remodeling if dry wall is
installed over previously installed inner wall
sheathing. With structural sheathing on both sides of
the outer walls, those walls in essence are
structurally a whole wall boxed beam. This also invites
easy relocation of doors and windows in that wall.
The extra layer of structural sheathing cost is more
than offset by nailer stud removal.
