PATH Technology Scans
One of PATH's major research support services PATH Technology Scanning. Technology Scanning identifies technology developments in other industries, from other nations, from federal laboratories, and from other building sectors. PATH looks for breakthroughs in other industries that could be transferred and applied to housing. Technology Scanning are fact sheets published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development/PATH and prepared by the NAHB Research Center, Inc. They are updated as technology developments dictate. PATH and the NAHB Research Center work to unite technology developers from outside of residential construction with manufacturers in the residential housing sector.
Updates
The "Other Industries" Technology Scan continues to develop as new and emerging technology sectors develop in areas from energy use to materials to informatics. Check back later for new report updates.
The "Other Nations" Technology Scan recently began. HUD is sponsoring an in-depth review of foreign housing research centers, conducted by faculty at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. The project began in August 2001, and an interim report will be posted here in the near future.
