PATH Field Evaluations

PATH supports background research for new housing technologies, but additional studies are required to judge the capacities and characteristics of technologies already in use within the home building industry. Such research is critical to improving the state of housing technology.

Field Evaluations are conducted by PATH to assess and evaluate PATH-identified technologies, those technologies listed in the Technology Inventory that are on the market and show potential for shaping the way America builds. As part of the evaluations, PATH works with innovative builders to integrate selected technologies into the design; to measure the cost of incorporating the technologies; to evaluate how well technologies are accepted by builders, construction trade groups, and homeowners; and to measure technologies' performance. Field Evaluations generally are limited to a few housing units and a few technologies. Larger projects fall under PATH's Demonstration Sites and National Pilots.

Since the PATH program was initiated, Field Evaluation projects have been established at 18 locations throughout the United States. Click on any of the cities below for a brief description of current projects, or click here to access the information using a map.
